Georgian wine,
born in clay,
buried in earth.

28 wines from three Georgian regions. The finest ferment on their skins in qvevri, clay vessels sealed underground for up to ten months.

Maraniმარანი

Named after the most respected room in a Georgian home

A marani is the family cellar, where qvevri sit in the earth under stone lids. We founded Maranuli in 2012 on that tradition, and planted more than 100 hectares of native grapes in Kakheti, Imereti and Racha.

What is qvevri wine?

Wine fermented and aged in a qvevri, a large egg shaped clay vessel buried in the ground. Georgians have made wine this way for about 8,000 years, and UNESCO added the method to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013. Maranuli makes nine qvevri wines, seven amber and two red.

What is amber wine?

White grapes fermented with their skins, the way red wine is made. The skins give colour, aroma and tannin, so the wine turns amber and has more grip than a classic white. Our Qvevri Kisi spends ten months on 100% of its skins and won Decanter Platinum with 97 points.

Which Maranuli wine should I try first?

For something only Georgia makes, start with Qvevri Kisi or Qvevri Rkatsiteli. If you prefer red, try Mukuzani for a dry Saperavi or Kindzmarauli for a naturally semisweet one.
